I was looking forward to the latest Track day, as we are now an established club with the RAF at Marham, and were allowed an increased entry.
Initially we had an entry list of twelve cars, including six Gilberns, with nine GOC members attending. The remainder were guests.

A good mix of car down the straight.
Mk II of Gareth Brooks.

The cars were to range from racing Mini and Clio (V6-3Litre), both running on slicks, through modern sports cars such as Noble and Elise,
specialist Track Day cars of Evo3 and Primera GT, to the Gilberns, being a GT 1800, Genie and four Invader Mk II's, including one estate.
As we approached the day the cracks started to appear, with various car maladies to the fore, and one freak accident to Chris Dennis,
who suffered a broken arm whilst watching some motor racing!!! The notices say it is a dangerous sport,
and it was for Chris who was hit by an errant wheel from a Healey 3000 that bounced into the crowd and hit him!!
Hope you recover quickly Chris (It must be true, you could not dream that excuse up - could you?).
I tried to get some replacements as I had to turn down some late entrants, but on the day we only had five runners, and only one Gilbern
on the track, the Mk II of Gareth Brooks!!
Overall there was a huge turnout, more than we have seen before, and because of this there was some bunching at the corners, particularly at the start of each session.
The weather stayed dry apart from a couple of showers in the afternoon, and everybody had an enjoyable time.
The sad thing was the lack of Supercars, and it seems that because of the increased popularity of the event, they have taken the view that their rather expensive cars
were more at risk of being damaged, so withdrew. Shame, as that certainly adds to the appeal.
Wayne Francis turned up around midday in the yellow Mk II, still running in his engine, so there was a pretty good gaggle of owners having a chat.
