Carpet patterns wanted mk2

Postby 3cpb » Thu Jul 30, 2009 1:13 pm

Has anyone got patterns, or an old set of carpets for a Gilbern Invader mk 2? I've bought a set of carpets that have turned out to be the the wrong set for my car. I can get the carpets re-made but the carpet maker doesn't have the correct patterns for a mk 2.

Did anyone volunteer up a set of templates - I can find a supplier of Invader III carpets but not Genie/I/II ??

Wayne did the crumbling remains yield enough for templates ??

If we are really struggling for patterns for MkII carpets then I will try to see what I can do, but I'm a little worried that they wont be accurate and you will all spend money having them made and they'll not fit. As I said to Chris, some are no more than the fabric border material with the middle rotted away :(

Exchanged emails with Roger Spares on this topic. Roger doesn't stock carpets. He knows of a trimmer who has made a set of Invader II carpets and will dig out his details.

I'm happy to buy a set and report back on quality/price.

Many thanks for your replies - I ended up copying the patters from Stuart Massey's car. Goes for a MOT on thursday - fingers crossed I'll see you in Yorksire!

Just laid out the remains of the rotten carpets out of the 'wreck from Leicester MkI' and comparing them alongside my MkII they aren't the same. There is a difference over the tunnel and across the upright in front of the rear seats. The MkI tunnel is lower at the rear. So if anyone has a pattern taken from a MkII, then I'd happily pay the postage to receive a copy of them :D

Hi Jeff, yes I got my new carpets made using my old as a template back in around 2015. I suggested that if the maker held the patterns I would send all who required replacement carpets to him, since then nobody has followed that suggestion up as they have all found 'cheaper, better etc' elsewhere so my patterns have been binned!
It would seem that even from new different carpets were fitted as there are differences in what I have found. If you find a pattern for an earlier car they should all fit as all bodyshells including I think the inside of a MK3 are the same. They may just be in different sections.
Gavin
