Toolkits???

Postby Greybags » Sat Feb 28, 2009 9:10 am

A question someone asked me the other day to which I dont have an answer, but hopefully someone out there will..

Did Gilberns ever come with a tool kit, jack etc?

So did they and if so what was in it .. even better does anyone have a picture of one... Was each model a different kit?? or all the same????

Hi Grahame, the road-tests in the Club book state that the early GTs were not supplied with a jack or other tools, but later GT's and 3-litre cars were supplied with a 'scissors' jack to be used 'under chassis, any position'. In 1966, the Autocar review stated the new Genie had a pillar jack.

The Motor road-test of an Invader 11/10/1969 (GOC book page 36) has a photograph of the tool-kit including the scissors jack and refers to 'spanners, pliers and screwdrivers'. Others may know of other references.

I use a 1930's style screw jack which also adds some needed weight to the rear end! Cheers, Vic

Rogerspares/Paulregalia, have you ever been asked to supply Tool kits?

I know most of us have all these tools and more available but perhaps a Brown Tool Roll with Logo might be a good bit of new Regalia?

Does anyone have an original to copy?
Regards,

Derek
