archive subject again

Postby craig 12 » Wed Apr 15, 2009 8:01 am

an old chestnut i know, but when we talk about archive stuff owned by the club , what do we have, (obviously if it cant be shown for legal or data protection then so be it) but what do we have? factory photos, etc etc. i was wondering if the club has a book or paperback guide as to the gilbern history which can be purchased, i dont mean road test books or on the subject of sprint/hillclimb, but a book which shows the old pictures, factory photos, dealer photos, you know the sort of thing. regards craig

Craig,

These are the sort of questions that have been asked on here already, and now need to be asked of the committee, either via the AGM AOB next Saturday, or if you cant get there, you must e-mail the committee members (all their addresses are in the front of Rarebits) and when they reply with an answer, let us know.

It will only be by asking these questions to the committtee, and requesting changes, and as members asking that these things are made freely availiable to the members, will anything ever get done.

That applies to everyone that reads this, if you cant get to the AGM them contact the committee members to show whether you support the questions being proposed by Derek.

Craig
Please ring Phil Ivemey the club archivist for the definitive answer, he holds all the clubs photos, film records etc etc.
His number is in the cover of Rarebit. Unfortunately Phil isn't 'on line' and cannot reply to forum queries directly.
regards Gareth

Sorry Richard if this sound like another winge but if Craig rings Phil and get his answer, then Grahame has to ring Phil and ask the same question and get the answer, then you, then Wayne, then me etc etc. Is it not a bit simpler to get the answer published somewhere where we all can see? (And Phil only gets disturbed once)
Regards,

Derek

Hi Craig
yep am surfing as we speak, i know a lot of material Phil has displayed over the years and taken time to photograph. He also displays the archive material at our National Day events and at the AGM he again sets up an exhibition of material.

There is a huge amount Phil has stored for our club and ultimately for us the members Please give him a ring, his number is in the Rarebit i'm sure he will give you chapter and verse on what he has etc.

If you can then put some of his answers to your queries on here it may save him answering the same questions again and again as Derek rightly said.

And the reason its 40 years on Dereks logo is because its 40 years since the Gilbern Owners Club was formed....hence the 40/50 year celebrations planned for this year( see events pages for further news)
cheers
Gareth

Graig,

It's not my Logo, its the Clubs, I just added the words around the outside for the Forum.

Its says 1969 -2009 because that the Clubs life, not the cars, hence the 50/40 celebration this year. 50 years of cars, 40 years of the club.
Regards,

Derek
