BBQ v Football

Hi all, last weekend on the way home from soggy France I decided to call in to see Roger Spares to discuss what the spares job entails. RF said do you like BBQ's? Do you like footy?. I replied I like BBQ's but not interested in footy and my wife positively hates footy!
RF said 'no problem - come and have a barbie early then he and Mrs RF can watch the footy. So we duly turned up (bottle of 'electric soup' in hand) had a long chat and started the BBQ about the same time as the footy started, 'no problem' said RF 'I'll record it' and went off to push the buttons. We had a good barby and went away.
The next day on passing I called in to thank him for the BBQ only to find that the recorder had not worked!!
Oh the sacrifices that committee members make for the GOC!!!
Mind you I did look at the paper the next day, maybe his blood pressure would have been raised even higher watching the game than it was when the recorder did not work!
