My Genie has to go

Postby Tree man » Sat Aug 18, 2012 5:24 pm

Due to an unexpected change in circumstances I am having to regretfully put my Genie up for sale :( :( . I have put a lots of time, effort and more money than I care to admit into turning it into a very competitive car on the hillclimb circuit. It's such great fun to drive and always gets lots of attention in the paddock. The club has been an invaluable help in these efforts and I've enjoyed the club meets and the banter on the forum. I am going to write a few words for the magazine documenting my efforts, that I hope will be an interesting read.
As for value I have not a clue as I have seen Gilberns go from the low four figures into five figures - what do they actually sell for?, what was their condition, etc, etc - any suggestions greatly appreciated. I'm going to put it on ebay over the next week with a decent reserve, but anybody interested is welcome to get in touch.

I'm sorry to here this. I very much enjoyed watching your exploits with the Genie on the hills.

Good luck for the future.

Hi Jon ..

This is devastating news, where else where I get to watch a Gilbern storming up a hill..

Is there no hope that you can continue????

All the best for the future, and I look forward to reading all about your antics...

Your videos will really be missed..

Well, it's been sold and given the sale price (I must admit to being a little suprised  ) and the interest in the auction all I can say is that the profile of Gilberns must be on the up. It's going to an owner who tells me he is involved in a car club in Oxfordshire who do a lot of work for charities working with sick children - car shows, rides out, etc, etc. I'm sure they will be in touch with the club as new Gilbern owners.
Thanks again for a great few years Gilbern ownership. I doubt if I'll stop peeking at the clubs activities and maybe I'll become an owner agin in a few years - that seems to be the pattern!

I missed the final part of the auction, have just been very pleasantly surprised!!
Well done Jonathan, hopefully Gilbern prices are now rising out of the doldrums.
Don't leave it too long before you re join the 'madhouse'
