If Roger does not have a back one for the Mark 3, call Philip Ivimey ( his number is in Rarebit).

I am getting a set of stainless ones for my Mark 3, and hence the rear one is surplus to requirements. If you want it agree a price for it with him and then donate the money to the club. Philip will have a better idea than anyone what these things are worth depending on the condition.

NOW THAT HAS BEEN A BURNING hot debate here , it came with a mixture of RS Escort and Capri alloys , but we think we have settled on the 7j slot mags one of which is on the floor near front in that last picture

One of the best Reds we used to paint cars was Porsche Guards Red. Worth a look.

I'll stick my two-penneth-worth in -

I had VW Mars Red on the GT, and thought it looked too orangey. The best red I've seen on the road was a really strong colour on a fairly new Mitzu Evo; I'd be very inclined to go with the Ducati red mentioned in a previous post, but which is this one done with, it looks real good.

The red Mark III is going to need a respray shortly; Roger Spares has said 'the only colour for a Gilbern is red', but I'm still wavering, I rather like the metallic orangey-bronzey-coppery colour (Sunrise Copper)I see on some recent Nissans. There is a photo of the car when it was relatively new showing it with an off white and a brown vinyl roof which reminds me of coffee ice cream with hot fudge sauce. I like it, but may be influenced by memories of sundaes past. The GP has said 'no ce cream!' until I get down another 6 kilos...

I know from past (sad) experience that if a red car is going to be painted another colour, it needs to be taken ALL the way back to gel coat... My mother had a Mercury Comet some years ago that gradually aged to a delicate shade of pink as the (former) red worked its way through the white top coat (shudder).

I hate to disagree with Wayne, but when I had a bright yellow Corvair, I got pulled over by every cop who saw it, and I'm not eager to go through that again, LOL.

About thirty-five years ago, there was a Canadian car company called Bricklin, who claimed to have done research saying the safest colours were white, orange, and a bilious green which reminded me of the shade they use for toxic waste in cartoons. I've suspected that this research may have been influenced by the colours available in the polycarbonate sheet they used for the surface material on the panels, rather than the other way around. Their green, in particular, was so bad you hoped someone would run into it, so you wouldn't have to look at it on the way into work in the morning...

I have to say I love my mk III in Ducati red - being a Welshman, it was the only colour!

Re: the wheels - I’m trawling the net for some new 15", but haven't really found any I liked... the closest were some AC Cobra replica wheels with centre spinners. I think the club would disown me if I got them thought!

There is only one colour for a Mk III as far as i am concerned, and that is the original Black Tulip.

Sadly choice of colour is a long way down the jobs list for me
