Hello avanti and welcome to the forum.

Post some photos up when your ready, in the 3 litre forum.

There's not a lot of action on here, being such a small club, so reply's may take awhile, but someone will answer :D

Hello Avanti,
you are obviously a man of excellent taste and character!! I'am a retired engineer interested in Cars, Bikes and Boats, I have two Gilberns; a Mk1 that I have owned for 40 years and rebuilt 5 years ago and a Mk3 that is in process of rebuild with a Ford 302 V8 and Jaguar XJS rear suspension. A BMW 1150GS bike that deserves to be used more often and a Contessa 32 based in North Wales, the boat takes me to the Isle of Man TT most years along with other similar adventures. I hope you enjoy your future Gilbern experience and I look forward to hearing how you progress and hopefully meet up with you in the UK, possibly at a Gilbern National Day.

Stuart.

Thank you for welcome
I will keep the Gilbern people informed about the progress. In my case the boat is more south near St. Tropez and the bike is used in the Swiss mountains which are also fun with torqey cars!

Hi everyone.

I collected an early Mk11 Invader this morning (1N1100 - HWR 620J) and had a great drive back from Milton Keynes to West London via The Chilterns.

The car is in good alround condition with a few niggles to sort out (the first being the overdrive that failed to engage as I pulled on to the M3) so I will no doubt be asking lots of questions in the near future as I iron out the wrinkles.

Hi Finn

Welcome to Gilbern Ownership and as the Mk2 Historian for the club, I shall of course be asking for all and every detail about the car for the records, and if you email me I will share what I have for your car..

Ask as many questions as you like, they will always get an answer, as there is always somebody around..

Have fun, and I look forward to hearing more about your car..

I am really pleased to be joining the ranks here on the Gilbern forum as a paid-up club member, and proud Invader MkII owner. I've recently acquired chassis No IN1087 and am going through the car sorting out minor niggles. Generally speaking the car is in good condition, and is fully on the road. I am located in Bath and my first proper ventrue out on to the open roads will be the weekend after next (1/11) to go to Shepton Mallet to the Bristol Classic Car Show. It would be good to meet up with other club members if they are attending. Long range weather forecast is looking promising for both days, but please do not hold me accountable for any changes to this!

Welcome to the madhouse HIL.
I hope to be at Shepton, maybe on the Sunday.
Keep an eye out for a 'George Clooney' look-a-like (i.e short old bloke in glasses) in a Gilbern jacket.
No doubt there will be others there but we do not have a display stand this time.

Hi Midgetman and welcome...

Hope you enjoy driving your car, and don't forget your Mk2 Historian (Me for a little while longer :D ).. Who may be able to supply you with some unknown history about your car, and who is always looking for photo's and copies of documents to help build a complete profile of every Gilbern.

Have fun with it, and we all look forward to seeing the car out and about.

PS, we are all relatively sane and harmless

Hi everyone.

My name is Paul Davies I live in Llanelli South Wales. Always wanted a Gilbern after drooling over one, owned by an Engineer, when I was an apprentice with the C.E.G.B. (when the electricity industry was state owned and run properly!). I have recently bought a Genie Reg no: ABW 150H, Chassis no: G1182, registered on 1//1/1970.

It was last on the road only around 18 months ago, however it does need some work to get it up to a nice presentable standard. As with most old vehicles the more you look the more problems you find!! however the main components including chassis seem to be good.

Have bought some parts from Brian (spares) who was most helpful. Looking forward to a long association with the club and their help with my genie restoration, without (hopefully) breaking the bank.

Regards
Paul

Hi, welcome. :) (your post was quite hard to find!) nice to know your Genie's
chassis is in good nick - as long as the chassis is ok, all the rest is easy...

Best regards, JED

Hello all @ gilblog,I joined the club in April but it has taken me until now to sort my access to Gilblog. my name is Keith Edwards and I live near Redruth in Cornwall, I do not currently own a Gilbern ( I have recently sold a Cortina 1600E) and am in discussion with another member who is looking to sell one of his cars but am open to look at others, but I don't want to get into transporting a pile of parts half way across the country, Cornwall is long way to anywhere, if anybody from admin is reading this can they please set up access to the members only parts,
thanks
Keith
