seasons competition

Postby Tree man » Tue Oct 27, 2009 9:59 pm

Thought I would update you all on my first seasons hillclimbing in a Gilbern Genie. The start of the season was a bit, 'what have I bought!!??' :( but then I remember my last car was way off the mark before a bit of fettling and I was just being impatient as usual. The diff lasted about 0.5 second and so a Quaiffe was installed in the rear axle as was a later model 4sp box. Gradual modification of the suspension and its geometry throughout the season and it at last sat square (enough for a road car) on the track in time for the last event were I was finally snapping at the heels of a couple of very well prepared Mini Coopers.
Work for the winter includes further suspension modifications, a better exhaust system now I've moved the offending chassis rail and I'm going to have a go at making my own twin DGAS inlet manifold. If I'm very lucky Santa might bring me some high compression pistons :D If it all comes together I'll be fighting over the gongs with the Coopers.
I will eventually get around to putting some detailed pictures on the forum or the web somewhere. The following page has lots of stuff about the seasons events as well as a link to a site with pictures of me at the October Curborough meeting http://www.hillclimbandsprint.co.uk/hsachamp.asp

Hi Tree man,
I'd be very interested in the suspension geometry modifications you have completed, as I too plan to drive my Genie at a couple of hill climb events here in Australia when it's finished. Any advice would be most appreciated.

Richard.
