One of the topics raised at the NEC Classic car show was an owner who had a fan mounted on the rear parcel shelf that appeared to blow air out into the void above the back axle as an aid to cabin ventilation. This was claimed to be a factory fitted option.
Does anyone know the full story or also have one fitted to their cars?

Re: Genie/Mk1 Forced Ventilation
Before my Mk3 incarnation, and in mature student days, I had a Mk2 for just over a year ELL410J (couldn't really afford the time or money). That had a fan in the rear parcel shelf too, and if memory serves was also told that it was a factory fitting.

Derek ..
Just to add a bit more info which might help,
On the original Gilbern wiring diagram I have, it clearly shows next to the boot lamp, the wiring for an extractor fan fitted in the rear window area to Genie's only, there is a corresponding switch and wiring shown on the dash as well...

Re: Genie/Mk1 Forced Ventilation
My fathers Genie had a fan fitted in the boot/parcel shelf area but my Mk1 has never been fitted with one. Gilbern obviously decided to eventually fit the rear pillar vent seen on most Mk2's, I say most because I recently noted that Colin Baldwins Mk2 has no vent.
