I am having problems with rotor arms as I they are breaking each time I put it in the distributor cap.
This is fairly new problem and can someone explain why this is happening?
The metal part come apart and some times the plastic is in half.
I have tried several makes and I have used 3 this weekend.

Re: Rotor Arms 3.0l essex v6
There has been a lot of chatter on various forums about Lucas type rotor arms lately and the fact they keep breaking or splitting. Something to do with being a "pattern" part being supplied to various brand names from China allegedly..
No problems with Bosch apparently as they still make their own.
Quite a number of of them now seem to buy from the US as there is a company that specialises in classic British Cars that have their own rotor arms made to get around the problem ... Apparently they are the Dogs doo dahs, and they list British Ford 6 cylinders in their stock..

Using 3 in a weekend suggest some form of mechanical trauma, could it be that perhaps something is off centre with the dissy shaft or perhaps the cap not sitting properly, that is causing the rotor to hit the cap.
Have you tried turning the engine with the cap off to check the shaft remains central, or has one of the cap fixings broken or become loose allowing the cap to move.
