Estate rear window HELP!!!!!!!

Postby gordav » Sun Jun 13, 2010 4:03 pm

Hi ,
Does anyone anywhere in the club or out of it know what seal was used for the rear window in the estate? The one I`ve got from East Kent trim was for a Mk1 Cortina, but this is nowhere near the original,so i`m sending it back. This is the only thing holding me back from my paint job on the car.I don`t want to take out the old one, as it will fall to pieces on removal.
If there is anyone out there who has one to sell or knows what its from ...PLEASE HELP
Cheers Dave :(

Have you tried Roger Spares :?: :?: :?:

I belive the rear screen is from the Ford Corsair Estate and so is the rubber seal, but keep the old metal trim section as I think they are even more difficult to source.

Hope this helps......

Hi Grahame,
I have tried roger and he doesn`t have any and no ones really sure that it is a corsair estate because east kent trim say thats the same as mk1 cortina, which is nothing like.
thanks

Hi Dave ..

I have tried to take a couple of pictures of mine..

I have tried to show the rather unique profile for it which may help you identify it.
I managed to get mine out without any damage and although not in the best of conditions it should be reusable if I cant find a replacement.

Woolies dont appear to have anything close to it..

If you need any more pictures or measurements give me a shout ..

Might be worth getting hold of the Ford Owners club to see if they can help...

Hi Grahame,
Thanks for that, I managed to get a seal off Brian that I`ve chopped up as it was no good and been sending peices to companies as a sample, but alas no luck so far.But I know that mine will not survive removal so it may just have to stay there for the moment.I have acquired another tailgate, so I can come up with a mod to take a standard style seal or bond the glass in maybe ???.
I live in hope
Cheers

Hi, What I cant quite make out from the pictures is if the rubber is 'H' section or 'Z' section.
I attach pictures of the middlebridge scimitar rubber and infill. Its a 'z' section.
This wont accept the original chrome but may be a good substitute. The main thing is having a rubber which is designed to fit grp.

Hi Dave,
We also have Pheonix trim closer to home they have a huge range, very helpful and will remake profiles given a sufficient demand...ie about a 100 metres ;-) they do not have a website so sending a sample is required.
I found excellent door seals for my restoration, more versatile then the copies supplied by scimitar marque specialists and designed for GRP thickness body flanges unlike the standard scimitar item!

Hi Dave

Have you tried Woolies of Market Deeping. We go there for all our classic car trims etc, they might just be able to match it.

Here is a link to their screen rubber section: http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/c-122-screen-section.aspx

Good luck

Wayne.

I do have an e-mail address for Phoenix Supplies, so you may be able to send a picture of the cross section to see if they can help ..

I have met them at a couple of shows and they are very helpful, and are aware of Gilberns, as they have supplied bits to owners in the past...

phoenixsupplies@hotmail.com

Dave ... Do you think you could send me a section of the rubber as well :?: :?:

I will be out and around during the year to various shows, and meeting up with a few classic buddies, someone there may recognise it and be able to help..

Have you tried Baines ... Have a look at their catalogue as they list 1000's http://www.coh-baines.co.uk/
