Build number

Where do I find the build number for my mk3, Bryan told me it was near the battery but I can't seem to find

its on the off side top off the chassis rail in line with the cross member stamped on a metal plate.

Can't seem to locate the build number at all, would it have been stamped into the chassis or would it be on a plate of it's own?

Hi Gary,
The number is stamped into a piece of 8mm thick steel which is welded to the top of the chassis leg, almost in line with the studs the ignition coil mounts onto.

From the records your reg. is NUH545M and the chassis/build number is M30128.
They do vary a bit, but mine at M30104 and I know that M30158 appears like this too.
