Gilbern Advertising...

Postby Gilb » Sun Dec 30, 2007 9:23 pm

After reading the thread from gilberninvader regarding the list of former Gilbern distributors, I was wondering if there was a list or examples of all the Gilbern advertising?

A quick perusal through Ebay provides a good insight, but I’m sure there must be many great examples of how the cars were ‘marketed’ in the 60s and 70s?

As an owner of a Mk III 8) and also working for an advertising agency, this would be of great interest to me and others?

 Try contacting Phil Ivemey, the club Archivist he should have a pretty comprehensive 'advertisement list ' as a starting point.

I have never actually seen one compiled myself though. (there is a road test link on the main pages i think an advertisement list would also be very useful)

If you do happen to see one, i would be very pleased to compare it with my own collection.

I have been meaning to catalogue my own one day, one of my friends has scanned all his own articles and listed everything he has. Its just finding the time to do it!

I bought a few press photographs from the Dutch Invader Mark 3 introduction (from an Ebay trader), and have sent them off to Paul, so one of these days they may show up on the cover of the Rarebit...

Note to Gilb, the excellent Gilbern Road Test book has several examples of the magazine adverts of the day, and I have a selection of the posters too, all reasonably priced, these were copied some time ago from the ones Phil has in the archives.
The main ones are in black and white and the range has been displayed at National Day over the years and will be next on display at the AGM, or seen at the House of Reg, the Sword on the first Tuesday or possibly even in a pub in St Albans tomorrow night, a Gilbern night away-day, give me a ring if any suit.
