This is the car that would have put Gilbern really on the map! I'm not sure the Austin Maxi engine would have given the sports car enthusiast the power they craved at the time, but with development, a lotus twin cam in it would have been the biz :D

So.....here for you to drool over.....

Another thing that is amazing, is that near as damn, it would fit under your standard kitchen worktop it's so low! Just look at Phil Ivimey standing at the rear contemplating the gorgeous rear end. Those lights are spot on for style in my opinion, just like jewels.

Hi all may I start by saying many thanks for all your kind comments on national day its been a long time coming but done at last as for the idea of a lotus TC in it without a drastic alteration of the chassis it would not fit and you would be suprised how good that maxi engine goes in such a light car the perception of speed at such a low height is interesting to say the least......more later as it is developed :D

Hiya!

The car looks fantastic. The quality of the work is very high. I'm not knocking the engine :D in fact, thinking back on it, we had an Austin Maxi as our family car for many years and I remember egging my dad on to 100mph in it, which was rare for an 'ordinary' road car then, so I can guess that the engine is pretty good. Having driven some low cars it's amazing how the perception of speed changes and everything seems so much faster.

Well done for getting it to National Day, I bet you had some late nights getting it done!

Will we see it at other events?

How about bringing it on the Border Rievers Run in Heartbeat Country in October?

Again, Great looking car and great work.
