Saturday 29th June.
Great Griffin Run 2013 (or for purists The Dragon Run)
This year’s Run STARTS from the Trevor Basin public car park in the village of Trevor, at the northern end of the Pontcysyllte aqueduct (World Heritage Site) www.pontcysyllte-aqueduct.co.uk , and FINISHES in Llangollen, about 5 miles away! In between, participants are invited to drive for a few additional miles o’er hill and dale, the full route taking about 3 hours (incl breaks).
The FINISH is Llangollen Motor Museum, which is normally open until 5:00pm, so it is proposed to have a START window from noon-ish to 2:30-ish, which should leave plenty of time for admiring the scenery in between, but latecomers can be directed to a few short-cuts. Llangollen Motor Museum (home of the Peter Cottrell GT) is conveniently located within a half mile of the Chainbridge Hotel where dinner has been arranged for the evening. (See National Weekend Post for details).
Directions
The START is on New Road, adjacent the north of the Telford Inn, and is signposted from some distance away. Just south of the Telford Inn is a business (Anglo Welsh Waterway) having a postcode LL20 7TY making for convenient navigation for sat-nav users. For others:
Arriving from The South on the A5, in the village of Froncysyllte, bear right at brown sign onto the B5434 running down across the Dee valley, with the aqueduct towering to the right, before rising to the Telford Inn.
Arriving from the North, via the A483 Wrexham by-pass, exit onto A539 towards Llangollen. Upon entering Trevor, turn left onto Station Road (B5434), then onto New Road at the Telford Inn.
Note to Families: The Run route initially takes the A539 into Llangollen before going “rural”, so it is acceptable to Start and then drop off unwilling passengers in Llangollen for the duration.
Any queries to Brian Hughes on 07854008600 or to John Hammersley on 01625873478
Considerable effort goes into organizing the Run so please consider signing on for the event. Enjoy some interesting but non car breaking roads, spectacular scenery and of course there are some prizes to be won!
***NOTE*** It appears that there is no petrol station within about 12 miles of Llangollen, so it is recommended that fuel is taken on board as you approach the area, particularly if you intend to take part in the Great Griffin Run. Approaching from the south on the A5, there is a BP station at the GLEDRID ROUNDABOUT and a Shell station on the approach to the roundabout (opposite Lions Quay). Both have the post code SY11 3EN for sat-navvers. Approaching from the north on the A483, there is an Esso station at the services on the A5152 at the signed Services/Erddig exit (Jcn 3).From each of these stations to Llangollen & back to Erddig is about 25 miles plus another 30+ to a station on the route of the Griffin Run or 50+ for the complete Griffin Run.

Re: Great Griffin Run Saturday 29th June 2013.
Just a minor note, the GT in the museum is in fact A.10012 - 195 TPG, Peter's early car A.10010 - 548 PNY is currently very dismantled with an ex. member and his later car B.100134 - CTX 862B is in the hands of our very own Phil Ivimey. I know most of the cars in the museum are normally MOT'd, so hopefully Ann & Gwilym may be able to make the day itself.
