National Day 2017 – Sunday July 2nd Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset
The SW group will be hosting the GOC National Day for 2017. The event will take place at The Royal Hotel, with Dinner on the evening of Saturday 1st July, and the Gilbern Cars display & Concours on Sunday 2nd held on the Hotel Lawns which adjoin the Sea Front.
The club has reserved some rooms for members who wish to stay overnight, but this is for a limited period, and after 1st February those who have not reserved a room will have to take their chances with other potential guests.
To book your room and places at the dinner either contact the Royal directly or me (Gavin) ASAP to make your booking.
The room rates, including Breakfast, are: -
Double £110
Twin £110
Single £78
The evening dinner is £25.00 per head.
Full details and Menu Choices for the Dinner will be available in the New Year.

GOC Dinner – The Annual Dinner will be held at the Royal Hotel, Weston Super Mare on the evening of 1st July, the day before National Day.
The cost will be £25 per person. We will need all menu choices in advance, and by 1st June at the latest, along with payment for those not staying at the Royal Hotel overnight.
To ensure we have a full and correct list of those wishing to attend the dinner, both resident and visiting, please send full details of names and menu choices to Gavin McArdle. Those not staying please include a cheque for the full value of the meals made out to the Royal Hotel. Please also highlight any special dietary needs.

Gilbern Owners Club Concours – As usual, the Annual GOC Concours will take place as an integral part of National Day. To be eligible, cars must be legally on the road, driven to the event and owned by a club member.
If you are attending in your Gilbern and your car is in good tidy condition, particularly original or historically or technically significant, please do consider entering. There is no need to pre enter, just register on arrival, but please bring your most recent MOTs as evidence of your mileage to be eligible for the Touring Trophy & bonus points.
Listed below is a summary of the classes and scoring. Full details are available from Roger French (Contact Info as on Committee Page).
Classes - There will normally be 7 Classes as follows:-GT, Genie, Invader MK1, Invader MK2, Invader MK3, Estate & Modified.
Scoring – Marks will be awarded in the following categories:- Bodywork, Interior, Engine Bay, Chassis/Underside, Originality or Modifications.
Trophies – Trophies will be awarded for each class, for the overall Winner, and for the touring category.
Please could all those that hold trophies from last year holders contact Roger French to arrange their return for National Day.
Raffle – All donations of prizes for the raffle will be most happily received on the day.
Members Used Spares – An area will be available for members who wish to bring used parts for sale, but please ensure all items are clearly labelled to allow prospective purchasers to contact you.
Final Instructions – Directions to the venue and final instructions will be enclosed with your June rarebit, which should be with you shortly before National Day.
Rarebit Back Numbers – The club has been consolidating all the back numbers of Rarebit, Gavin McArdle has now sorted these into chronological order. If any members require specific copies to complete their set please advise Gavin in advance for collection at National Day, and before they are returned to long term storage.
Saturday Meal – For anyone attending the Evening Meal on Saturday 1st July who has not confirmed their menu choices to Gavin, please do so now. Full details were published in March Rarebit, of if there are any queries, please contact Gavin.

National Day 2017 – Final Update
How to find us – Enclosed with this edition of the rarebit you will find a slip with directions to the Royal hotel in Weston Super Mare. This also allows you to complete your details in advance which will aid our gate keeper at the entrance to the display area. Should you find yourself on the way without the slip, follow directions to the ‘Sea Front North’, drive along past the Grand Pier, and turn right after the Winter Gardens (Under refurbishment) and follow around to the right to enter the Royal Hotel car park.
Parking Arrangements – if attending in a Gilbern you will be directed to the display are, this is on the sunken lawn area between the Hotel and the Sea Front. For those staying overnight we hope to park your cars in the display area on the Saturday afternoon.
For members attending National Day in other vehicles parking is possible in the Hotel Car park subject to availability, but you will need to display a GOC parking voucher which will be available to Members from the gate marshals. Please note that this is a pay and display car part open to the general public, so we cannot guarantee the availability of spaces.
Timetable – The site opens for National day at 10:00, and we close at 5:00 (or a little before if all activities are complete).The full time table for the day will be published in the program.
Public Access – The display area is slightly sunken compared to the adjacent ground, and is enclosed on 3 sides by hedges and by the Hotel on the remaining side. Although this provides a relatively enclosed site, it will be open to Hotel users, and the any of the general public that may wish to view the cars.
Volunteers – We will be very pleased of any volunteers to assist with entry to the site on Sunday Morning, or with judging of the Concours. In both cases guidance will be provided.
Please contact Gavin McArdle if you can assist with marshalling or Roger French if you would like to assist in judging the Concours.
