Hi Members,
The Wiscombe Park hillclimb weekend is coming up on the 7th and 8th September, with the Wiscombe Cup on Sunday 8th, but I am very pleased to announce a new trophy. This is the Ken Young Trophy, in memory of that great Gilbern GT enthusiast, and competitor Ken Young. The trophy will be presented to the fastest Gilbern overall, over both days of the Five Clubs Wiscombe Park weekend.
To enter the Five Clubs Wiscombe Park hillclimbs you will need to do it either on-line at www.enteronline.org.uk, or you can enter by paper by printing the entry form off the website www.fiveclubs.org.uk from the beginning of July. The entry usually fills up within a week. For more details of the event go to the Wiscombe website www.wiscombepark.co.uk, but practice usually starts from 8.30 am, with first timed runs at 1.00 pm on both days, see you there.
Kind regards
Chris D

Re: Wiscombe Cup Hillclimb 8th Sept 2019
Five Clubs Wiscombe Park is coming up on 7th/8th September, Brian Gent (GT1800), Colin McLatchie (GT1800), and myself (Invader Mk 1) have entered both days. Keith Marchant has entered just the Saturday hoping he has finished his Invader Mk 3 in time. So competition for the new Ken Young Trophy, for the fastest Gilbern over both days will be fierce, as will competition for the Wiscombe Cup on Sunday for the most improved Gilbern competitor. This year there will be just one practice run, then three timed runs counting for the result on both days. There will be a lunch break after the first timed runs, with the second, and third timed runs in the afternoon,
Five Clubs have confirmed we can have a Sunday parade for old, and current Wiscombe hillclimb Gilberns, just before lunchtime. We already have a few old hillclimb cars coming, and potentially a reunion of an old driver with his old competition car. Admission is £10 per adult. I look forward to seeing many of you there.
Kind regards

Re: Wiscombe Cup Hillclimb 8th Sept 2019
Dear Members,
The Five Clubs Wiscombe Park weekend went very well, with sunny weather all weekend. Sadly Colin McLatchie, and Keith Marchant couldn't quite get their cars ready on time, so withdrew their entries. So it was just Brian Gent, and Chris Dennis competing both days. On Saturday Brian won the class in his GT1800 (AMJ) with a best of 51.02 seconds, from Chris in his Invader Mk 1 (EMC), a bit further back with a time 64.01 seconds
On an even warmer Sunday, Brian was again fastest winning the class, with a slightly slower 51.28 seconds, and Chris going a little faster with a 63.45 seconds. For the Gilbern Trophies, Brian won the new Ken Young Trophy for being the fastest Gilbern over the weekend, with his quickest time on Saturday. While the Wiscombe Cup was won by Chris for making the biggest improvement on his times on Sunday, so honours shared.
A great gaggle of Gilberns turned up to watch, with Five Clubs kindly letting us display them next to the track, at the top of the hill. They made a very impressive sight. Two of them Ian Hazel, and Mike Kislingbury's Invaders, have both competed in the past at Wiscombe, and joined Carol Gent (in Brian's GT1800}, and Chris, in a parade up the hill at lunchtime for competition Gilberns, making it a special day in the 60th year of Gilberns.
Kind regards
