body parts and misinformation
During the summer of last year I visited a classic car show in the millennium park Llanelli. While there I notice that three Gilbern’s where on show. One of them a white car, had a board telling the history of the gilbern. Reading the information I noticed that the article stated that the gt mould was made from parts from the 1.5 riley and wings from the front and rear wings from the A40 farina. This as far as I know is wrong. I was told by Mr Friese that the only part used where the rear lights (A40)and the windscreen (riley) and any other design features are coincidental. And this kind of non factual literature would, in his words, annoyed him.. if you look at the front and rear wings of the A40 you can see the difference. This is how in my opinion misinformation is spread…

Re: body parts and misinformation
Oh dear ... perhaps the text was lifted from Postwar British Thoroughbreds by Bruce Hudson - ..
"after lowering the finished chassis to the ground, the body was added, panels from a Riley 1.5 roof and Austin A40 front and rear wings being supplemented by A40 doors. Any gaps were then bridged with aluminium or plywood ..."
Heinous crime in my view .....
