possible new idea for dvd

Postby craig 12 » Sat Aug 29, 2009 8:36 am

hi everyone , i was searching some stag handles earlier on e bay and came across a guy selling some old literature and videos, on further investigating the videos turned out to be by rimmer brothers on servicing etc,

would this be an idea we could use as well as the archive dvd, for newbies like me with limited knowledge, (for instance next week im attempting to take the front bumper off but not sure which bit to start first) a kind of tutorial on dvd for basic gilbern stuff (obviously not specialist work) jacking points, colours of wires, meanings, how to check pads, how to change the rocker covers, etc etc the list goes on.. i can only speak for myself but i take things in better being shown rather than reading in text form.. not sure of cost ,not sure if anybody has time to do it, but i know for sure it would help me loads .. regards craig.. if not a hard copy , then possibly a you tube version
as my uncle frank always said" it never rains in the tap room"

Not a bad idea.

But most of it has already been done.. the Mark Evans series on the Discovery channels, covering the MGB & E-Type nut and bolt restorations and complete Cobra build show everything in good detail. Complete disassembly, through renovation to rebuild, and though not Gilbern specific, replacing a rocker cover, or setting a front bumper, to stripping and rebuilding an engine, are basically the same regardless of the make.

They have been all released on DVD and are quite enteraining watching... So much so that youngest daughter has decided we are going to build a Cobra when the Gilbern is finished... and tend to agree with her, have already found a source for a Chevy small block.... :D :D
