Maybe this is something for the GOC to look into. The models shown on the web site look very good. Well worth thinking about.

I live no more than 10 miles from this company, so if you need a go between....... :D

You should have a word with Reg Alia - he has been looking into this subject for a while now, with limited results. Apparently, some of the first test runs he was shown only looked like Gilberns to someone who had never owned one...

Also, which Gilbern would you intend to model? A Genie would probably be the best choice, given that with interchangeable bonnets, wheels and taillamps, it could be anything from a wire-wheeled Genie all the way to a Mark II, but that leaves GTs, Estates and Mark IIIs out in the cold.

I'd be much more interested in a kit than a built-up model - I bought a Carlo Briani signature model of a Daytona a few years ago, this being a model that had rave reviews, but I thought the example I had was one of the worst models I'd ever seen, whereas I know that if I build it myself, I know what I'm getting, and I could modify it at will to represent my exact car, rather than someone else's guess at what a Gilbern was.

Also, as Craig said, I'd be much more excited about 1/18th scale than 1/43, but I suspect I'd have one at whatever scale it was.

Hi Carl, I guess Gilbern must be one of few marques not recreated in miniature so it is probably time. The Genie / Invader would presumably be first choice as it would be possible to create the different marks and Estate from one original, but personally I would like a GT! If you already model the A40 Farina front and rear corners are sorted.............

Hi Carl.

I'll get in touch with you as soon as I can. I'm a bit tied up right now with work.

I guess you get it all the time......want a bigger model.....want it cheaper.....

The most popular model of Gilbern is the Genie and Invader. The GT is probably the most desirable but you only have to look when someone last posted anything on the GT thread on here :?

Cheers,
Wayne.

Alastair....just saw your previous posts and pic of your 'smash' !!! :!: :!: :!:
Hope your rebuild is going ok, and that you didn't bid on the model just so you could find 'where things go' ;-)

that pic is legendary! (maybe less so for you of course!) good luck with it and please start a post showing your progress !

Will be back on the road for the summer festivities. Hoping to be back on the road for March. No photos yet though. I'm in London. The car is in Yorkshire ... and no time to pay a visit :-s

Whilst you lot have been busy bidding & buying, I have been trying to find out if any other (unmade) GT1800 kits are still available with price! Watch this space.

I have now established that the GT 1800 model kits are still available for £45 each unmade, and I have left it with them that I will wait until I get some feedback regarding the one purchased on Ebay by our contributer from OZ before placing any orders. In the meantime anybody interested can leave their name on the Gilblog or phone/email me so I know how many to obtain, and hopefully get a volume discount!!!! However, the first thing is to find out whether the kits are accurate and worthy of the pricetag. Over to you all.

To be very frank the quality of the model is crap. The casting is vague and from a very worn die, and the shape is approximate. The finish on the built model is OK but if I didn't need a birthday gift for the car owner I wouldn't have bought it. In my view the kit is worth about ten pounds and that's taking into account the rarity. I'll get some detail photos up soon.
