Where have the forum pictures gone????

Anyone else noticed, instead of getting the pretty pictures that people have been posting all we now get is a picture discription with the chance to download ..

Is this a change to the forum or perhaps a setting on my machine ..

Makes it a real nuisence to look at things..

Also the forum isn't so good to read if you have to keep downloading files..

No changes have been made plus this, and the Technical forums are covered in pictures.
If it is just effecting your pictures, maybe it is the linking facility with your picture vault/host etc.

I pretty sure that in the early days on this forum we all started uploading photos to a host site like 'photobucket' etc and then linked the image to here so it appeared in our posts. There is now the option at the bottom of the 'reply to post' or 'new topic' window where you can upload a file direct to the hosting server and just the link appears in your post. This is what is now happening with the 'newer' members who only see the attach file pane and browse button at the bottom and use it as the only way to post pics ! I prefer the old way because I dont need to download pics to see them time and time again, they're always there to view and also make for a better looking site

Would it help to put an 'info for posting photos' up on the forum and run through the ways of posting them? I only say this because I know there are posts relating to this item with instructions, but they have slowly 'sunk' to the bottom of the lists and an 'info' one would remain at the top for all new members to read as a guide.

Just a thought you know

I think the pictures have always been like this.

If you put a url link to a picture on say flickr and enclose it with the img tags you get..



If you add an attachment you get..

Yes I know it does that now, but not so long ago if you put a jpg as an attachment, then it would have been displayed as a picture the same as if it had been linked and not as a downloadable file.


I tend to use the links but it was handy at times to just use the attachment way..
