Well after many weeks repairing, remaking and fiddling, both doors are now back on, with even gaps all the way round, shut with a whisper, and open on a finger.
Windows whizz up and down life a warm knife through soft butter...
The 6" front tri axial speakers are in and the 200w system plays 60's and 70's music like the Ark Roadshow used to do in the early 70's in Plymouth.. Cant wait to hear Noddy Holder belting out My Oh My when all 4 of the tri axial's are in...with the 6x9's in the rear
What could be better ...
Had the car out on the drive working in the sun, with my 70's collection playing on the cd, life really dont get any better than this, unless I was driving some of the beautiful A & B roads around Devon of course.
The little bad bit ...........................
The Drivers door lock has just decided to stop locking the door.... oh well back to the beginning with the locks....
If life was always perfect it would be boring.

I think that's par for the course on Gilbern locks. Can't wait to fit the old central locking his winter.

No Spandex ...
Flares, Platform boots, Budgie jacket, white scarf and hair
, lots of hair, I really miss the hair...
Not so much a hair cut these days, more of a polish
But I love the 60's and the 70's... It really was the time to be a "youngster".
Driving around in what seemed to be the hottest summers in my Triumph Hearld, with the Webasto roof wide open, cassette playing or Radio Luxenberg on after 7pm when it switched to English.
Friday night disco at the Ebb Tide in Averton Gifford, and then all down to Bantham beach at kicking out time, radios on, a few brews, a sausage on a stick over a fire, and a pleasant company with some pretty young lady or other.
Whip aerials, spoilers, sun strips across the top of the windscreen, usually with the flavour of the days name on it. Go faster stripes.
Ah. what great times ....

Ah! there's the difference, my formative years were the 50's & 60's, by early 70's I was settling down into married life and a family.
My claim to fame is seeing the Beatles live at Fairfield Halls in Croydon. The first time I took a girl out to a "gig" and her mum would not let her go on the back of my motorbike!
Sold this Vincent for £69 to pay for my wedding

But I was a blues fan seeing the Yardbirds, Stones, Long John Baldry, Clapton and others in the clubs around London. Particularly remember paying 2d to cross the bridge to Eel Pie Island in the Thames to see a very young Rod Stewart with Long John Baldry's Steampacket. (Excellent documentary on Long John recently on BBC4 see Iplayer)
Cars included a Renualt 4CL(750), MG ZA Magette, VW Variant and of course a mini. Shamed to say I learned to drive in a 3 wheeler Reliant,
no lessons just jumped in on the motorbike licence. Those were the days. Passed my test in an Austin A40 Farina.

Re: A lot of good and a little bit of bad
I think we should have separate headings if we're all gonna reminisce.
Say 50's and 60's together, then 70's, then 80's. Not sure if anything came after that.
Change that! Not sure if anything came after the 60's
Something probably did, just cant remember who sang what. I only get 6 points with Ken Bruce.
As er ? says 'You dont have to know whats what to know whos who

Re: A lot of good and a little bit of bad
As much as I dont want to break the thread of people reminisences.
I've got the Bl**dy door lock to work ..
It's been in and out of the door like a fiddlers elbow, but now working to pefection..
In another post I found the bar across the bottom of the lock was particulaerly weak and was quite bent in my door, well the thing had bent and partly snapped, and the plate that stops the handle operating the catch was so worn away, nothing worked.
So out with the MIG, strengthen the partly snapped bar and then built up the worn away metal on the plate, file and shape, it now locks like a charm ..
Also found that the dog that locates in the catch cam had worn on the tip as well. So built that back up with a bit of weld as well, and then filed to shape ..

Now got a nice action with no real play.
Grahame
P.S. .. Usually get about 15 on Ken Bruce
