it seems the worlds gone mad, rubber bumper mgb gt,s the entry classic for everyone seems to be climbing, theyre on classic car site for up to a staggering £7000 , ok the rough ones are on e bay for around £300-£1000
but what the hecks going on, a mint mk 2 has just sold on e bay for £4300 ish , wheres the sense.
ive heard comments that gilberns in the 70s werent that desireable and expensive for the money, well as a comparison scimitar se5/6 are around £3000-£6000 for good uns, many more were produced, than our cars.
it all seems nuts to me

Re: price of our cars
The problem is no racing predigree with Gilbern and at least the scimitar had a little help with the royal family.
To get prices to increase there needs to more marketing about the cars and more famous owners. This is starting to happen with classic car mags over the past year. If there was help from the welsh assembly then you see prices start to rise.
I get a lot of looks down my high street and everyone says its a lovely car. That is good enough for me.

Re: price of our cars
i think the scimitars i refer to maybe the gtc convertibles and the middlebridge ones, but regular se5s on classic car sites seem to be settling at £2995 or thereabouts, scimitars i luv em and would never knock em ,
my gripe is with the rubber bumper bgt
the starting point of classic car entry, i could accept mgc gts or mgb gt chrome bumper , but not the rubber bumper ones, theres even a vile brown one thats climbing in value,
ask any lay man in the street who dosent know the mgb gt and theyll tell you ,i dont like the rubber bumpers
its the oldest mg argument between owners,
