Rising value just around the corner????

Whispers on the grapevine is that a serious Maserati collector has, over the past few years bought 10
Bi-Turbo Karifs but has now put the collection up for 98K.

Why?

Not sure, but I'm told he wants to replace them with Gilberns.

Maybe Craig got rid of his too soon :(

Check out the similarity between a Karif/Ghibli Bi-Turbo and the Genie and Invader.

are you on drugs? theyre worth £1k-£5k all day long and no more, im curious to see if the car being sold not so long ago at i believe £9k was sold in rarebit. i bought my mk 2 at a fair price and i sold it to what i thought was a fair price, waynes guide on the pistonheads forum seems about right, like weve said on these pages before, if they were more well known in the seventies then maybe values would be higher.

In amongst all the data I have for the Estates, I have recorded all the sale prices I have found for cars for sale.

When put up as a graph it shows the 2nd hand value trend for the Estates.

Note all the cars were described as good condition, taxed and tested. I have not included the "needs work" catagory, and are AVERAGE prices, there are always exceptions that reached higher prices.

During the 80's the average price remained fairly steady at 1800 to 2500.

During the early 90's the prices started at 2500 but during the decade slowly climbed to average 4500

The first few years of the new century saw prices slip back to the 2500 to 3000 mark, but the last few years have seen Estate prices rising again, with prices reaching 5500 ..

Discussion with others suggest that the condition of the Estates on the market are starting to fall into 2 distinct catagories, the car thats been off the road for several years and requires restoration, and those that have had all the work done.

So the Estates are seeing a revival at the moment, dont know about the other models.

Dont assume everything is a rumour.....

Theres an awlful lot of truth in some rumours, and this time theres more fact than speculation.

mmm not sure about them , just had a look at one on wickipedia , im not sure id pay £10k for one, clarkson hammond and mae on top gear always call the bi turbo a CRAP CAR , i can imagine a hefty bill on repairs and servicing and parts . if i had one i think the 430 saloon looks nicer,

Why such a negative attitude Craig????

Prices rise and fall slowly as a trend, not over night, and at the moment the trend is that estate prices are showing an increase, and I'm sure the other models are as well.

One car sale does not influence anything, but many over a period of months do, also ebay is not exactly a reliable source as a price guide.
