Front Suspension

Postby blue1 » Sun Aug 15, 2010 2:44 pm

I need some help with front suspension on a mk1 invader.

I have purchased new avo shocks from Roger but when I have a look what is on my car, they look different at the bottom. On my car it looks like that the bottom of the shock is not secured on to anything and I cannot see where the avo shocks secure on to at the bottom.

My pictures are all of the Mk2 suspension so have removed them to prevent confusion..

Stuart has some handy pictures on his Flickr Pages as well

Hi, the suspension on a mk1 is different to the mk2 the spring sits on the bottom wishbone so theres no ride hight adjustment. on the mk1 the shock is bolted to a bracket that sits under the wishbone, it is bolted on the bottom of the wishbone with 2 lugs passing up through the hole . The bottom of the shock is bolted through these lugs, if you want any more info email me and i`ll take some pics and send them to you

Thanks for your help but I am still having problems such as

The bushes supplied by Roger do not fit the avo shocks.
The avo shocks are too big for bracket to bolt the shocks.
The bolts that thread through lugs in the bracket do not secure the shock as there is up & down movement in the shock.

Does anyone have any suggestions to resolve these problems?
