Hello, my kind brother has lent me his Invader for keeping. It is known in the club under UFS136H, after some investigation I have found it was first registered as YKK795H, possibly metallic gold, the plate changed to JUS 1, and then to UFS136H. The interior is in very good condition, no rips or tears in the vinyl uphostery.
When uplifted it was a non runner, with poor brakes, and no clutch pressure. It's now been washed down, T cut and polished, and looking a lot better. Mechanically today had a new battery, new plugs, old petrol emptied. Attempt at start no joy (no surprise). Started to look at ignition and found HT leads in wrong order on Dis cap. Then started (now very surprised) and stopped. Had a friend round who is good on scimitars, (same engine etc) quickly found carb not right but would run with some fuel down the carb and choke, Carb service kit now being looked for. Looks like the slave cylinder to the clutch is US and that will be next job to see if clutch actually works. then brakes etc. Suspension bushes are shot so need done. Need info on what they are, some say healy, some MGB?? I will be joining the club in August for the new year and hope to make the borders run in October.

Re: Getting Mk11 Invader up and running
Hi and welcome,
The club has all the spares you'll ever need, at a price you'll always afford.
Some of the bushes are particular to Gilbern and are manufactured specificaly for the club. Some can be found on a Healy, some can be found on an MGB and some can be found on the MGC.
It's best to join the club first and then get a list from the spares dept.
It'll save you alot of running around.
There's nothing you'll be doing to your car that hasn't been done before. Any questions just ask, you've come to the right place
Richard

Hello Dandog,
Your car is in fact a MK.1 Invader, chassis number IN.1025. The best £30 you will ever spend on your car will be in joining the club.
Welcome aboard!

Welcome, and congratulations on having a Gilbern ...
All the parts you need are available from the club spares, although I think you may find that your car is actually an earlier Mk1 and not a Mk2, but it's still a Gilbern ..
Enjoy the car, and there is always somebody somewhere who will be able to help out with any questions..

Hello everyone, thanks for replying. I'm definately joining the club. Dropped out the slave cylinder and it's
U/S. A MK1 it is then, chassis number ties up. Will keep you informed. Waiting for a carb service kit, get engine running, and sort slave, then see where the adventure goes.

Hi Dandog,
Good to know that you are burning the midnight oil and making good progress with the car. As for oils, I have a letter dated 20/11/1972 in which Castrol recommend for the engine GTX, the gearbox Hypoy Light and for the rear axle Castol Hypoy.
Hope this helps

Hi Dandog ..
Sounding like all things going great with the car ..
Get yourself down to Halfords and grab a tin of their 20/50 Classic Oil ..
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_166289_langId_-1_categoryId_165581
Real good stuff. One of the few really good things to come out of Halfords.
