Re: Gilbern GT for sale
Hi Rick
I think your price is a bit light bearing in mind prices that are coming up in the U.K.
There are two for sale in here at double what you are asking. Because of that I have recently jacked my agreed value up. I wonder what Brian Gent our G.T. Expert thinks of the price bearing in mind he has sold a few.
Good luck Maurice

Hi Rick
Sorry for my earlier remarks but when I went to ebay there was no " reserve not met" on my screen. Now the reserve is showing. As you say lets see where it get to, the market for GT's at this end is quite high at the moment so good luck.

The car is now on the other side of Australia, and I have just begun the enjoyment of Gilbern GT ownership!

Welcome Neil,
I'm sure you'll enjoy ownership of a Gilbern. Do you have any specific plans for it?
Whereabouts are you located? I'm on the Vic/NSW border.

Re: Gilbern GT for sale
G'day Richard. Nice to hear from you. My plans are simply to keep the car in top condition, while also enjoying it regularly. I've already attended to a few items, and have reserved GT1800 numberplates for it. I'm honoured to take the car over from downunder rick who has done a lovely job of restoring it and upgrading the engine.
I'm just 40km south of the NSW/Vic border - out near Cohuna. Here's a couple of early shots.

Anyone out there have detailed photos and/or plans of the original Smiths F260 heater and the controls? Or better still know of a saveable one for sale? The heater is missing from this car, while records show it was ordered and delivered with one.
Cheers,
Neil

Re: Gilbern GT for sale
Hi Neil,
Are you missing everything on the heater side? i.e. matrix inside the car, Torpedo blower under the bonnet and twin cables from the left hand side of the dashboard to the heater valve and the the blower flap.
I will need to search my stores but I may be able to help.
Brian

Re: Gilbern GT for sale
Hello Brian,
Yes, the only sign that the car ever had a heater are the two flexible air tubes that used to take air from the heater box up to the demister vents, and two rubber blind grommets that fill the holes in the dash where the cables used to be.
Any assistance will be hugely appreciated.
Neil
PS, while I'm on the subject of original bits missing from the car, another is the thermatic fan. Rather than simply mount something modern, is there a specific thermostatic switch and fan unit I should start searching for? Finally, are there any pictures available of what the original shrouding between the radiator grille and the radiator itself looked like? Or was this simply left open?
So much to learn, but so much fun getting it right!

Re: Gilbern GT for sale
Thanks Richard. Great to hear from you! Yes, you can be sure the GT has gone to a great home. It is very pampered here! Plus, plenty of nice open road to get the tacho and speedo up to exciting levels from time to time. I absolutely LOVE the car.
If you ever get over this side of this big country, you'll have to drop in and take the old girl for a drive again.
Cheers,
Neil
