Classic Marques Handicap Challenge 2013

[ChrisD]

The TVR CC are going to run a new Historic Speed Championship at selected Hillclimbs, and Sprints next season for British rear wheel drive sports cars on a handicap system. It will be a bit like our Wiscombe Cup, but a more complex performance algorithmic handicap system based on power, and weight, that they use for their own speed championship.

It will be called the Classic Marques Handicap Challenge and will be a full MSA registered championship sponsored by the TVR CC. It will have 16 rounds, with your best 8 scores counting. There will be no new classes, the times will be taken from your runs in the existing class structure.

Venues being lined up include Wiscombe Park, Anglesey,(for Mr Griffiths) Loton Park, and Castle Combe. They hope to have Aston Martins, Austin Healeys, Gilberns, Ginettas, MGs, Morgans, Reliants, Triumphs, and of course TVRs. I have confirmed the GOC (in the form of me) will give all the support we can, and will supply them with model info for the handicapping system. I'm sure some members will want to do a few rounds.

I think its a great idea, and something I have been thinking about. The bonus of a handicap system is it gives everyone a chance, at every meeting, and you can use existing classes, and events. You don't have all the extra work of making up new classes, and rules. Will keep you updated in the Rarebit, and should have some more details next month.

Kind regards Chris

Great News the MSA have approved the regs for the Classic Marques Speed Challenge, and Gilberns, and the GOC are invited (many thanks Steve). The regs for the new series have been uploaded to Files on their Yahoo chatgroup. If you cannot access the file for any reason, and require a copy by email, please drop me a line at chris.dennis@gilbern.co.uk and I'll send them to you.
