Re: Gilbern Genie - 3ltr v6
The usual old car stuff but essentially:- make sure the overdrive works in 3rd and 4th, quiet back axle(axles are rare and costly), no wear in the kingpins, chassis rails (hidden by the fibreglass sills)not rusted. Beware of new paint finish this can blister and craze if preparation is not done properly and will not show until a winter and summer pass. Chrome should be good (bumpers are expensive). Engines are pretty tough but make sure you listen for knocking on start up from cold and also wait till the engine is hot for knocking again, check oil pressure should be more than 5psi on idle and over 25psi around 2000rpm, should not overheat and fan should cut in at correct temperature. Hope this helps

Hi there,
I can only agree with what Simon has had to say, as he mentions bumpers you may like to know that they are available to club members at £550 a set, this includes the 2 main blades, 2 quarter bumpers, 4 overiders with buffers, mounting rubbers and fixing bolts, they are finished in polished stainless steel, so corrosion should be a thing of the past.

Hi Chris,
It sounds like you have your mind set on a Genie, however I do know of an early Invader with a very good chassis, with rebuilt brakes and suspension that is coming up for sale. If it is of interest you can contact me on gt.spares@gilbernoc.co.uk
Happy hunting!
