Genie bonnet

Postby macker1 » Sat Oct 03, 2015 7:37 pm

I hope that you don,t mind me asking questions this time about the bonnet, first has any one got a photo of the bonnet securing device, I am starting to get around to looking around to see what parts are missing looking under the bonnet I cant figure out how it locks down, the front hinges are there and the bonnet stay. also there are two slots in the bonnet. I think that there should be two chrome inserts, Where they made for Gilbern or from another car.
Thanks for any help

Not sure if the catch is the same as the Invader, but here is a picture of the remote catch on my estate..
Was operated from under the dash, and fixed to the bulkhead behind the carb.

Hope this is some help..

There are 3 different types of bonnet catch on a Genie, the latter type is like the one that Grahame has supplied. For details of the other types I suggest you contact Julian Crinall, the Genie Historian, he is up to speed on this sort of thing.

As for the chrome bonnet vents, yes there are 2 and they come from the back of a Hillman Imp.

The catch in Grahame's picture looks the same as the original I had on my Mk3 Invader. If so, its off a Ford Anglia (and I have 2 of them if needed).

I think we have 2 x air vents in Used spares should you need them.
