Chris Smith details.....

Postby roger » Sat Mar 12, 2016 5:09 pm

I'm having some grief with the new 38 DGAS carb I fitted on my car and suspect that it is jetted incorrectly for my engine. Looking at the non-standard rockers suggests that there have been some modifications and it would be nice to know what they are. The engine was rebuilt by Chris Smith. Is he still active and if so does anyone have his contact details please?

Roger

If you do a very quick search on the internet, you will find Chris Smith address In Lutterworth and eventually phone number (if any of this is still valid).

Thanks - found many listings in Lutterworth but no telephone. However, I waded through the documents provided by the previous owner and found a very old telephone number (pre 2000) so will try that with the addition of the extra 1!

Yes - that's the one I found minus the second digit (1) - 0858880580

I'll try it tomorrow - thanks.

Hi Roger,

I understand that Chris has now retired from the Gilbern business as to concentrate on his car transportation business. His last advert in the magazine was on page 17 of the December 2014 edition. In this he lists 2 telephone numbers, workshop 01858 -880580 and evenings 01162-777016.

Good luck

Brian

Thanks Brian - the 01858 number is now disconnected but the other number is valid. I spoke to Chris this morning and he was very helpful. My car's engine has apparently been fitted with Australian roller rockers as no UK options were available then (late 1990s), and had some head work done including an unleaded conversion.

Rolling road now booked for Friday so should get sorted then.

Roger
