Hi Keith...

Have a word with Brian Gent as he usually knows whats for sale and where, and if you are ever driving through Plymouth, the coffee is always on the brew..

Also have a look here, several for sale at the moment http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C605756#

Hi

My name is Martin and I have been a Gilbern fan for many years. I joined the club back in April with the intention of buying my first Gilbern. After going to the national day I made a contact and within the week had purchased a 1972 Invader MKIII (chassis number M.30025) from long time member Stuart Eddy. It had been stored in a dry garage on axle stands for 20 years awaiting chassis work. It is going to take a while to put back together but my aim is to take it to next year's national day.

I am also into Land Rovers (I have 3) and currently looking for a Series I project. Oh.. and I have a 1953 Ferguson TEF20 tractor in bits at the moment!

Cheers

Martin

Hi Tony,

I have quite a lot of history on your car, its first owner was a founder member of the club, Keith Adams - member No.10, in later years, it and its then owner went missing. I managed to track them both down and found your car stored in the corner of a service station near Bristol in September 2006. Do drop me an email in due course on briangent57@gmail.com or give me call on 07850-001186.

Interestingly another GT owner observed you driving north up the A34 on the 9th September, presumably en route from Ron Hatch in Southampton to your home in Oxfordshire.

Hello All
Further to my post above I am now the owner of a mk1 invader, having spoken to Brian Gent he tracked down the car and on Sunday last my wife and I went up to Fareham and drove the 200 plus miles home to Corñwall in the invader without any problems other than the heater not working, there are a couple of issues to sort with car but that is 40 plus year old cars for you! Also mentioned in my last post but not sorted yet, can somebody sort out my access to members forums I have sent a pm to admin but haven't gotten anywhere
Thanks
Keith

Here we go.
Let me introduce myself,my name is Ben Johnson and I have just acquired a 1969 Genie,(TAD 690H)I have had my eye on Gilberns for a while and after speaking to Ian Latham at the car restoration show I splashed the cash and bought his Genie. It is going to be a long journey but judging by the welcome I have been given so far it is going to be a pleasant one.
I look forward to posting my story.

Hi there, one and all.

So, my name is Miranda Brook, I come from near Perranporth in mid Cornwall and, since 2007, have owned a red Invader Mk III, PUH 380M, Chassis M30175 .

It is the third Invader I have had over the years having previously had two Mk IIs.

I began a full body off rebuild, not so long after I acquired it and got as far as restoring the chassis to as new condition before other things got in the way and the project stalled.

I've been a member of the GOC, off and on, for the last 40+ years and, after an absence of several years, I am yet back in the fold again. Those who have been members here for some time may remember me under my former name 'David Brook' - there is a long, long story behind this.

Anyway, now seems to be a good time to think about trying to pick up on this project from where I had left off, whilst I hopefully can still find most of the bits!!! One of the biggest challenges will be the state of the bodyshell, - well I hope that is the biggest challenge or else there are Real problems.

Still, should be done by the end of the year - note that I am not saying "which year"!!!

I don't see to have access to the bulk of the forums despite having updated my membership number in my profile - what am I doing wrong please?

Miranda.

Hi Miranda

A quick message/email to Paul should sort out the access to the pages ..

Glad to hear the Gilbern still exist, and was wondering if you still do the Traction Engines and tractors, and if so will you be a Boconnoc this year??

All the best with the restoration...

Hi there, Grahame,

Well, yes, It's been many a day since I was last here and a lot has changed. How is life, the universe and everything with you?

I would assume that by now your rebuild is complete and you now have plenty of time for other projects.

That was certainly 100 100 memory; yes, the barn full of tractors and other toys is still mostly intact although we will be thinning out the numbers fairly dramatically over the next year or two. We parted with the BB1 ploughing engine but still have the Marshall convertible although it failed its 10 years boiler certification a few years back and what with one thing and another, we may well be moving that one on as well - I just don't really fancy getting stuck into that sort of thing these days.

I am not yet certain whether Vivien and I will get to Boconnoc . Life has become a tad expensive recently and the early retirement fund has taken a mortal hit. As such, I have just kicked off a new career and start with Waitrose in their, soon to open, store in Truro on the 2nd of next month. The store itself doesn't open until the 16th and it's a bit hard to predict how the shift patterns will work out thereafter. Do I take it from the question that you are hoping to get there? It would be good to try to meet up if you are.

I've just spent the last two hours pouring over the notes I took when dismantling the car. No mobile phone pictures available and precious few snaps taken on the steam age digital camera of the time!!! The shorthand scribblings all seemed to make perfect sense when I wrote them.... Oh well, I expect it will all come back to mind once I get stuck into it. In a way, it is a bad time to be recommencing this, there are extremely busy times ahead for the next 6 months or so, but I would really like to have it back on the road again - I have definitely been suffering Essex withdrawal symptoms of late!!!

Nice to hear from you, catch you soon, no doubt

Hi Miranda,

Picking up on the comments about the state of your body, we do have new old stock front and rear ends for the MK.111 at the clubs storage site in Devon, probably for once something on your door step, well almost!

From memory I think the front ends are £600, and I am not sure about the rears but can find out for you if it is of interest to you, so that you can progress your project after all these years.

Regards

Brian - Spares
