Weekend in Wales hillclimbing

Postby Tree man » Wed Jul 11, 2012 8:19 pm

As the the Genie is behaving I will be taking it to Wales this weekend to compete in a sprint at Llandow and a hillclimb at Lys Y fran. The weather forecast is not too bad especially on Sunday when there is more things to hit. I'll post a video if they come out, the run up the dam service road is spectacular. I'll ask somebody who knows to post a couple of pictures of the car at it's new fighting weight with various bits of trim removed to reduce weight - I think it looks more purposeful as well as being 75kg lighter.

The Genie is looking good, can't wait to see it in action at Wiscombe on the 29th!

Great weather and great competition. Llandow is very fast but the venue is a bit grim. Llys-Y-Fran is a fantastic venue and I'll post a video when I get back from holiday. The winters work on the fron suspension has all been worth it but I now need to slacken the rear, especially now I have a few more horses under the bonnet. I will also be changing back 60 section tyres from the present 50 section as I think this will suit the cars handling better

Here is a link to the in car video I took at the Llys-Y-Fran hillclimb http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynsi8_XyRNg If you listen carfully you can hear the car starting to skip on the long left hander, softer rear springs amongst other tweeks will cure that. I must also get a reverse gear lock out as in the heat of the moment it's all to easy to try to grab reverse instead of first. Great day :D
